Running Assessment & Gait Analysis in Winnipeg

What is a Running Assesment?

Our running assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand how your body
moves and how we can help you perform at your best — whether that means recovering from a
running injury or improving your running performance.

What Does the Assessment Include?

Running History
We begin by reviewing your history and discussing your running background, current training habits, previous or current injuries, and your personal running goals.

Movement and Strength Screening
Whether you currently have a running injury or not, we will guide you through a series of movement and strength tests to assess your mobility, strength, and endurance.

This testing will also include the use of our VALD ForceDecks, a state-of-the-art system used in sports medicine and physiotherapy to analyze strength, power, jump performance, and asymmetries. These objective measurements help guide treatment planning and ensure your running injury rehabilitation or performance program is data-driven and specific to you.

Footwear Assessment
Running shoes can significantly influence how you load through your joints and muscles. We will assess one or two pairs of your most frequently used running shoes to determine whether they are appropriate for your running mechanics, training volume, injury history, and goals.

Running Analysis
And of course, we want to see you run.

Using video running gait analysis, our physiotherapists will assess your running technique in real time. We may trial gait modifications or technique adjustments during the session to determine whether changes improve symptoms, efficiency, or running comfort.

Follow-up Appointment

At your follow-up appointment, you will receive a detailed report reviewing the findings from your running assessment and personalized recommendations.

These recommendations may include exercises, footwear suggestions, gait modifications, or training adjustments. Your plan is tailored specifically to your body, your injury history, and your individual running goals.
